"In the Good Old Summertime, Part 2" was held Wednesday, May 7, 2009. This was a continuation of how to keep Cotton students busy both physically and academically over the summer months.

Monica Causey, TN Voices for Children      Parents learn how to motivate their children

Monica Causey from Tennessee Voices for Children was our presenter and shared ideas on "Motivating your Child to Achieve and Learn." She shared with the parents attending how to observe children to see what they are interested in so as to "find the key" to take this excitement and link it to learning. Other topics were setting the bar, focusing on the effort of your child, setting goals WITH your child, showing how you think school is important, and most importantly, how to encourage your child, not just praise them.

Translation is provided by Ms. Hernandez   Parents learn how to keep their child motivated over the summer.

This was the final Pastries for Parents this school year. Plan to join us next year as we will be lining up more sessions with Ms. Causey on motivating your child, plus sessions on what a Positive Behavior School means.
