What Does Our School Offer?

Hattie Cotton promotes high academic achievement and positive social development of students in a variety of ways. The purpose of our Cotton Accountability and Resources Evaluation Meetings (C.A.R.E.) is to ensure that all students' needs are addressed and monitored so that all students have an opportunity do well in school.

Hattie Cotton staff emphasizes time-on-task and we endeavor to make every minute and experience count. We have many special events sponsored by our PENCIL Partners, Dollar General, as well as other community partnerships including the Fire Department and The Nashville Ballet. We work hard to enhance our language arts, math, social studies, science, music, art, and physical education programs with educational extra-curricular events and activities.

We also have a Parent Center that offers informative and exciting opportunities for parents, including regularly scheduled Pastries for Parents workshops. Parent Center activities are facilitated by our staff and funded by Title 1. Math and Literacy Nights are also held throughout the year. Grade level performances and interactive family activities take place with meals provided.

A balanced academic program, special events and award assemblies are held to motivate and recognize student achievement. Nashville personalities and special guests join administration and Dollar General to acknowledge students’ accomplishments.
